Mix of brightly coloured plants with a range of reds, pinks, oranges, yellows & white. Shiny green and bronze crumpled leaves. Stalks are thick and tender. Biennial normally grown as an annual, growing to 60cm.
Chard is known to be a nutritional powerhouse vegetable packed with vitamins, nutrients and health benefits. Rainbow Swiss chard contains high levels of vitamins C, K, E, beta-carotene and the minerals manganese and zinc.
Baby chard leaves can be used as a salad green. Big leaves are used as a substitute for spinach and in tandem with other hardy greens such as kale, leaf mustards and collards. Complimentary ingredients include citrus, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, olive oil, cheeses, cream, and butter. Good for rice and pasta, pie, roasted meats. Also steamed leaves are suitable for a rolling meat or veg dishes. Yummy!
